About Me
My name is Ashlan Evans, I’m a graphic designer focused on branding and identity, but my work is ultimately about world‑building. I’m drawn to the ways visual experiences shape who we become—through music, memory, and the environments we move through. Vinyl culture has been a major influence on me, not just for the sound but for the bold, nostalgic artwork that surrounds it. Album covers, vintage posters, and band tees carry emotional weight, and I’m fascinated by how these visuals become part of how we remember music. Photography is another foundation of my practice. The first thing I bought with the money from my very first job was a camera, driven by the urge to capture moments before they slipped away. Photography taught me to pay attention to light, color, and atmosphere—how subtle shifts can completely change the emotion of an image. That way of seeing continues to guide how I build mood and environment in my work. I’m also influenced by the places we inhabit and return to. I believe environments become part of our identity, and I aim to create work that feels like stepping into an experience rather than simply viewing a design. My process is intentionally exploratory. I begin with loose sketches, then move into Illustrator where I build multiple artboards and test different directions. The final piece often emerges from fragments—a color from one version, a shape from another, a mood from somewhere else entirely. My work leans bold, clean, and eye‑catching, but I’m equally invested in subtle symbolism and imagery that invites someone to linger. I blend graphic and illustrative approaches, leaning toward realism while leaving room for the surreal. Ultimately, I aim to create visuals that hold emotion, offer clarity, and stay with the viewer long after.
